"How to Drink Tea" is a short film made using generative AI tools like Runway Gen-3 for visuals and Eleven Labs for narration, with final edits done by hand in Final Cut Pro.
It dives into how generative AI interprets our reality, shining a light on the oddities and mistakes that fall outside the norm. With a touch of humor, the film questions what defines our perception of reality, our humanity, and the meaning behind simple, universal rituals—like drinking a cup of tea.
The process involved generating hundreds of short clips, each 5 to 10 seconds long, depicting seemingly ordinary moments. From these, the strangest and most unexpected were selected to shape a narrative in a documentary style.
Using the familiar tone and authority of a TV documentary, the film draws the audience into a sense of realism, only to contrast it sharply with surreal AI-generated visuals, inviting them to rethink the boundaries of truth and fiction.
